"I can't believe they just let us go home. Alone. With a baby."
Countless new parents tell a familiar story about leaving the hospital with the baby for the first time. They speak of their anxiety and worry and how parents are not sure what to do now that they are alone with baby.
A postpartum doula can help.
In the early days, we can help with breast or bottle feeding, helping ease the load, and navigate the realm of baby care. In the later days, you might benefit from sleep education, help with introduction to solid foods, later breastfeeding issues, or more self-care for mom. Really I am there to keep you from Googling, "is this normal?" at 2am. I am there to give you common sense information and a listening ear.

Mothers in so many cultures believe that mothers should rest and heal from childbirth. Grandmothers, aunties & friends dote on mothers, bringing food and keeping company, while helping care for baby. This is ideal but not often available in Montreal as families tend to be further away and much of this tradition is long gone. I am happy to work holding this space for mothers to heal.
Postpartum doulas are not just for the first few weeks after birth. Many mothers benefit from having an extra hand around for so many reasons. When partners return to work. When baby is going through a sleep regression. When mama is tired. When you need some guidance. When mama needs a shower, a hot meal, and some support. A sleep doula works with families to be a break and be a support to finding a routine that works.Call Alynn for sleep or postpartum needs.
