pre&post doula

A service specific to your needs.

So many of my clients do not feel as though they want a doula at their birth. They want someone to create a tailored childbirth prep course for their needs and someone they trust to help after baby is born. They want continuity in this relationship and someone who is coming in postpartum who already knows how to manage in their kitchen and how to care for you in your space.

I would like to note that there are seriously wonderful benefits to having a doula attend your birth. I think this is merely the next best thing. Maybe financially you can't afford that, but you know that you are going to need help navigating the first weeks and months postpartum.

Why a doula at all?

Studies show that a doula's companionship in labour can reduce its length, decrease c-section rates, and increase mother's satisfaction with her birth. A postpartum doula has not been studied as much, but has higher of maternal satisfaction and increased breastfeeding rates.

Confidence in your abilities when baby arrives

And that's just the prenatal work. You also have the reassurance that you can text and email in the last weeks when you will have so many questions. Instead of turning to Google, why not turn to someone you trust.

Support you didn't know you needed.

Postpartum doulas are not just for the first few weeks after birth. Many parents benefit from having an extra hand around for so many reasons.

When partners return to work.
When baby is going through a sleep regression.
When you are tired.
When you need some guidance.
When a c-section happened, planned or not, you need time to recover.
When you need a shower, a hot meal, and some support.
When you need help establishing a routine that works.
Let yourself be cared for.
