Taken with a Grain of Salt

People love giving new parents advice. At the grocery store, I have people tell me their remedy for teething babies. That belly bump or that baby in your arms is the ticket on the get-advice-from-strangers-and-family ride. Hold on tight, smile bright, and only use the advice that suits you.

Being able to google everything under the sun comes with its perks and pitfalls. It's a great way to get information in the middle of the night, conversely it can offer a lot of conflicting information. Just like the varying advice you have received from those around your belly over the last 9 months, the internet can be a load of opinions. It is important to differentiate fact and science from opinion and what-worked-for-Sally.

Be educated and be aware of those websites that are reputable and sourced so that when you are looking for advice, you can find it.

Sidebar: your baby could be carbon neutral by finding a way to save our planet in his/her lifetime. I mean he/she could find a way to offset those 25,000 plastic bags. ;)

Check out my resource page for many of the sites I recommend for evidence-based pregnancy, birth, postpartum and parenting topics.
Doulas love answering questions on these topics. Ask me and I give you my best answer -- and where to find YOUR best answer.
