How Much Do Parents Matter? - The Atlantic

Robert & Sarah LeVine have published a book showcasing their life's work. The study of parents across many different cultures around the world. They have come to the conclusion that, "(p)arents don’t matter as much as many parents think they do."
An interesting read. Might not be what we want to hear as parents but it does offer some good advice. Stop taking
yourself so seriously and enjoy it.

Should public health nurses visit every family with a new baby? - HealthyDebate.ca

In Canada, we are lucky to have public health nurses (or our midwives) come visit us at home after birth. Studies have shown that postpartum home follow up with a health care provider is beneficial to mother-baby healing and actually reduces the cost to society longterm. Not every mother is visited and only a small population might be eligible. Torontonians can find out if they are eligible for home visits by visiting the
Healthy Babies Healthy Children website. But does Canada's policies regarding postpartum follow-up measure up?

Healthy Birth Practices - Lamaze International

Lamaze has six healthy birth practices: this link is a great place to learn more about what kinds of things can help baby move into the world. Each birth practice is broken down and and backed up with relevant research.
  • Let labour begin on its own,
  • move around during labour,
  • have continuous support(hire a doula!),
  • avoid interventions,
  • avoid pushing on your back,
  • keep mother and baby together.
