I am a mother to a breastfeeding boy. I find myself lucky to have had a baby who latched within minutes of birth. I am thankful that I feel comfortable enough to nurse him anywhere. I am glad that we are able to have a nursing relationship because I feel as though I am giving him more than just nutrition. We have a strong attachment, he is able to regulate to my cues quickly, and he is able to be calmed and nourished with the best natural nectar that I can give him. Sandra Basile just wrote a piece for The Huffington Post about her breastfeeding journey. When I first imagined breastfeeding, I thought my son would eventually adapt to a set feeding pattern, but that was not the case. I learned very quickly to follow his cues. Sandra Basile via Dear First Time Breastfeeding Mother, The Huffington Post She details the things she has learned thus far on her breastfeeding journey. She speaks of the things that have humbled her.
